(095) HOUSE IN LA VERA. 2006

The area known as La Vera lies beneath the southern slopes of Sierra de Gredos, the central mountain range of the Iberian Peninsula. The new house is located in an old abandoned tobacco dryer in Vera. Only the perimeter of the old shed remains, and it defines a built and enclosed void, a viewpoint that looks out across the landscape. A folded metal body cantilevers out above the old building, creating interstitial spaces between both. The embrace between the existing and the new generates spaces to be inhabited.
